The House System is often mentioned as the most important reason why both students and staff enjoy being at Roland Michener Secondary School. The house system is distinct and unique to RMSS. Some of the fondest memories of past students are the interactions they had through House competitions.
When a new student comes to RMSS, they are automatically placed in a Homeroom and belong to a House. They remain in this house for the duration of their time at RMSS. Each house has a house leader and collectively, the house leaders and students create homeroom days as well as spirit activities. These activities include spirit week games and dress up themes along with other activities put on by the various houses such as Tupper Supper, Vanier Fun Night, Frontenac Food Drive, and Terry Fox Walk and Fundraising by Baldwin.
Studies have proved that students who are involved in co-curricular activities generally do better academically than those who don’t participate.
The RMSS Houses are:
Baldwin
Frontenac
Tupper
Vanier
Foxhounds
